Apologies – WE CANT CURRENTLY UPLOAD PHOTOS – will do when internet is good enough (hasn’t been for days and this post needs photos…)

Day 25 – Lenger canyon trek

Ibray and his family arranged a guide to take us on a hike in the hills. Ibray and two of his friends join us for the early morning walk.
After the walk another treat lay in store; we had talked about horse riding and Ibray had also arranged for us to have a short ride each on ‘Yellow Scorpion’. He was a gorgeous horse and so easy to ride!

That evening Ibray’s mum cooked an amazing dinner. We chatted about everything from what we have for breakfast to politics. She also said she is going to write an article about us for the newspaper and it will go in the archives in Almaty. Now we really do feel like local celebrities!

The whole day was awesome. It was lovely to speak to another girl (in English!) for a while & to spend some time chatting with and really understanding some Kazak people.   We felt very privileged to have had this experience and they obviously felt privileged to have us stay in their homes.

Our polite British ways meant we feel bad they wouldn’t accept a penny for all the treats supplied to us over the last couple of days – Kazak tradition is that us even offering the money is almost an insult.

In return instead, we offered to support however we can if they ever come to the UK and we have some tiny Cornish memorabilia as a token.
